Now that GrowlMail is being distributed separately, and especially now that its version numbering will be potentially different from growl itself, I think it may be prudent to make the version number visible somewhere within the pref panel in Mail.
I just went to check the bundle version on my other user account to see if i'd upgraded to the latest there, and the only place I could find it was in the info.plist inside the .bundle
Also, in the unlikely event of some future user posting about it not working, and being asked what version of it they're running, it will be useful to be able to point them to an easy place...

That's not a bad idea. Are you planning on implementing that? If not, please file a ticket at our google code site.

I suppose I could, couldn't I?

OK, so bear with me, 'cos it's my first stab at Cocoa programming (or in fact anything proper beyond scripting/command-line progs...)
Feedback gratefully received :)

This seems to work for me, anyways.
I assume a hg diff patch off of growl-development is the way to go?

Yeah. The right place to put it is in a review issue on the issue

I haven't yet updated the Growl Contributor Handbook, which still
suggests patchbomb.
