For those who were interested in a scala specific group, looks like one is getting started up (not sure if that's due to anyone on this list or not):

I think Josh Suereth (who's writing Manning's "Scala In Depth") (http://jsuereth.com/) might have something to do with it: https://twitter.com/#!/jsuereth/status/165116563140263936

(h/t to @zachlendon for the heads up on twitter)

My post here a few weeks ago identified a variety of local flavor
options. We're lucky to have so many options.

Also, I thought it showed enough interest to put together http://scala.mn
and a Twitter account to collect interest beyond GUM post. So, what
the hell.

Thanks for help spreading the word here, Ted.

Next steps are to put together topic ideas and recruit help on
organizing (co-founders, venues, times). Suggestions and ideas are
more than welcome.

We had Josh come by for a few days of training this week. In fact,
when I pinged him about starting a local Scala group, he expressed
interest in coming back to MN in Spring to speak. He's a great, down-
to-earth type of guy who really knows his stuff.
