North Carolina State University and Santa Monica College are pleased to announce “Mid-Scale Vermicomposting,” a one-day seminar and tour.  The seminar will demonstrate how businesses and institutions can save costs by using earthworms to convert "waste" into a valuable soil amendment.

Friday, June 29, 2012       10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Santa Monica College     HSS Room 165    Santa Monica, California

This event will provide the tools you need to start or expand a vermicomposting program at your institution or business.  You will learn about vermicomposting, types of vermi-technologies, and details about how vermicomposting is saving money at schools, universities, prisons, military bases, and businesses.  You'll also gain knowledge of how vermicompost and extracts (tea) can be used, and their effects on plant growth and disease suppression.

Tour:  Santa Monica College started their vermicomposting operation in 2000.  Over 300,000 earthworms process cafeteria food preparation scraps and cardboard in a 16-foot long, temperature-controlled continuous-flow vermi-system.  This is your opportunity to see the famous automated Vermitech flow-through bin!
