Dear Sonia and friends
Wasnt it just awesome? Great stuff, well done everyone. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for yet another life changing experience among 'genuinely' good people. The children's knowledge on waste puts UK kids to shame. Brilliant!
Ralph

Mabuhay too!!
I have to agree with Muna. The whole trip was a thing of wonder. Nancy and I are still floating. Everything was wonderful. The ZWIA speakers are one group of amazing, smart, dedicated, warm, humorous and kind people. What a treat to be a part of that group. The Mother Earth folks, the city officials, and all of the people of the Philippines were so kind, warm and wonderful.
Please be sure to call on us if we can be of any help on the quest for Zero Waste.
Much love to you all.
Cheers,

Only one word can cover our experience – WOW!! To Sonia and our Mother Earth Foundation and civil society family, the various Philippine government people, and the ever smiling Filipina’s themselves, you made us feel very welcome, and your warmth will live in our hearts forever!

Do please remember that we are a future resource for you all, and expect you to ask if we can help your beautiful country be a successful Zero Waste one… it will be our pleasure to support your further journey in this way, and help build on the already wonderful work you have done so far… world class indeed!

Kindest regards

Thank you Sonia.
Mal and I have just attended a National Zero Waste Seminar in Sydney where the principal message was also the soil.

Our keynote speaker was the Federal Minister for the Environment Peter Garrett.

Thank you to you all for your hospitality, kindness and company during our visit to the Philippines.

Kind regards to all.

Gerry

Dear Sonia,

Just taking a little time out in Queensland to see some natural farming techniques and will be heading for a final week in New Zealand before returning home to the UK.

Please pass on my sincere thanks to all your team for the kindness and hospitality they all showed your visiting party during the whole of our stay in Puerto Princesa and Manilla.

It was great to meet you all and get a small taste of the kind of context in which you work.

I for one felt humbled by the whole experience and learned a lot from the way in which you and your people tackle the universal problem of "waste." I don't think that you had a lot to learn from us by comparison other than a sharing of experience to confirm that your methods are yielding the kind of results that we can only aspire to at the current time. Naturally there is much to do yet for all of us but I feel your course will lead more directly and more quickly to zero waste than ours - for all the right reasons.

Sonia can I add a huge thank you to you personally - the embodiment in the Philippines of Mother Earth. You have obviously earned a massive respect from your fellow countrymen as a prime mover in the Philippines  for the agenda we are all trying to promote. Speaker after speaker referred to their love for you and all that you stand for and I'm sure it was heartfelt and well deserved.

As Gerry has already mentioned the ZW conference in Sydney's Darling Harbour that we attended was equally taken with the "Answer lies in the soil" theme and will probably re-inforce that message in Copenhagen. Also developents on the carbon accounting front seem to be converging in such a way that those who are the custodians of Mother Earth's soils will at last be able to access resources to line up the true price of foods, taking into account all those costs that have been deemed as "externalities" until recently.

Gerry and I are still shedding as much skin as a snake after our quick burst in the sun whilst island hopping and swimming with the fishes so our Philippine experience is still very much in our minds on a daily basis. I hope to visit again very soon but meanwhile thank you again for all your kindness,

best regards

Thanks Sonia,
Thanks to everybody. A very great experience for me to be in Puerto Princesa with all of you.

Hi to everyone,

Congratulations for a job well done!!

In behalf of Mother Earth Foundation I would like to express our special thanks and congratulations to Mayor Edward Hagedorn for his hospitality and generosity during the 6th Zero Waste International Dialogue and our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all the speakers in making the conference a resounding success. The good mayor is also my principal sponsor to the Copenhagen meeting.

The local government units (LGUs) that attended were one in saying that they have learned a lot in the conference and that they have many things to do after attending the Dialogue to pursue their zero waste goals. During the conference, Mother Earth received 5 invitations from LGUs to conduct our seminar/workshops on ecological discards management leading to zero waste. Aside from the trainings, we expect to get  speaking engagements to the various sectors of society who attended. This will keep us busy in the first half of next year and also raise some funds from these trainings to keep our organization afloat.

The participants were all praises for the expertise of all the speakers (both international and local). We will email the result of the evaluation of the conference as soon as our efficient moderator and Founding Chair, Ms. Tes Choa has collated them (we appreciate her volunteering to do this).

I'm sorry for this late thank you note. ....I have submitted our resolution to the Head of the Adaptation Technical Working Group to which I belong during our last meeting but I will bring a copy with me and we can present this to the head of the Philippine delegation (Secretary Alvarez) as the ZWIA group in Copenhagen. I purposely did not give it to him during our last meeting last Saturday because I think it is better if it is an official submission from our group. I can request him to meet our group in Copenhagen.

Again, thank you very much to all!

In solidarity,
Sonia
