Friends,
The Community Wheel Magazine
will be on newsstands this week, inserted in the North Coast Journal
and at your favorite hang out. And the pdf is up on our site!
This issue is focused on the way transportation choices affect health.
Check it out!
And don’t miss our Community
Wheel release party, Thursday, July 9, 5pm at Jambalaya!
Also, take a note of some upcoming
calls to action:
Thursday, July 2, 8:30am, Humboldt County Courthouse
The several-times-postponed hearing
for the motorist who struck and killed Greg Jennings last August will
take place in one of the courtrooms on the second floor of the Humboldt County
Courthouse. Show
up, check the bulleting board for courtroom number, and show your support
for Greg's widow, for justice, and for public safety. Dress professionally,
and wear a bicycle pin if you have one, or look for someone passing
them out.
Tuesday, July 7, 2-5pm, Wharfinger Building
HCAOG will host a workshop
at the Wharfinger on the many-times-postponed Regional Housing
Needs Allocation.
This process determines how we allocate planned growth in the cities
and the county. Should we plan for focused growth near jobs and existing
infrastructure, or continue past practices of allocating over half the
housing to the unincorporated county where there will likely be reduced
access to jobs, services, and transit?
We hope the methodology:
See you out there!
