Good Morning All!!
❤️HAPPY APPRECIATION WEEK!❤️
🏢🏗️👷🏽🚒👩🏼‍⚕️HAPPY CAREER WEEK!!!! 🚓🧑‍🍳🍭💼⚽

Lots has been happening behind the scenes to make this week special for our future caretakers of the world and all of its industries!
This email is specifically for today's teacher directed activity and  tomorrow's field trip.  More info on upcoming events after we digest this one : )

1.    SEND ALL PERMISSION SLIPS DOWN TO THE MAIN OFFICE TODAY!!

2. Choose your Scavenger Hunt, print, and copy.  Options can be found here or you may create your own.  Students will need pencils tomorrow for their walk; you'll want to make sure they are sharpened and good to go.

3. Take loads and loads of pictures and videos!  Let us know your wonderful ideas for today's activity and don't forget to show off a little - or a lot! I've seen some amazing 'fits and ideas floating around our building and I want to hear about it ALL!!!!

4.  LOOK THROUGH THESE DOCUMENTS VERY CAREFULLY.   MOST STAFF MEMBERS HAVE AN ASSIGNMENT!! This one is organized by time, this one is organized by class.  Those of us without homerooms are expected to be at their assigned class at least 5 minutes before departure.  Feel free to be an even better coworker by arriving with enough time to give the homeroom teacher a chance to use the restroom, etc.  before we go.  Parent Chaperones will be waiting for us by the main entrance on the first floor.

5. We need to stay within the approved perimeter of 35th - 37th; Hermitage to Damen.  Stay on the south side of 35th Street.  Your class does not need to walk the entire path, but stay within it.  Also, each class is allotted one hour.   Children who meet typical developmental milestones should have enough stamina to leisurely walk for an hour - but sometimes little legs do run out of steam. If you notice signs of physical discomfort for our youngest explorers, bring them back and talk about the careers you've  hunted : )

6.  Much as I'd love to be, I'm not in charge of the weather. Accuweather has a 20% chance of rain at 9 and mostly cloudy after that.  If we need to make scheduling adjustments we will do so if an obvious need emerges.

5. I'd suggest comfortable shoes and loose clothing tomorrow for Explorer Day

 Any questions? Just ask!

Thanks again for every single thing that you do to make Greene such a special place to be!! You never know who you are inspiring with your incredible energy!
Take care and enjoy your special week ❤️

Good Afternoon All!
What a break we caught today with the sun coming out!   Thank you for the great pictures and videos - but mostly for your enthusiasm with our scavenger hunt! You truly took it to another level with your creative ideas today : )
This afternoon's email is specifically for tomorrow, Wednesday May 6.  We will move on to Thursday after we digest this one (everything is here if you're getting excited for the rest of the week!)   Tomorrow is the day we need to be more flexible with the arrangements, but will hopefully get exact times early enough in the morning.
Grades 2 - 5
We have a visit from the Alderwoman tomorrow morning!  The Honorable Julia Ramriez will start in fifth grade and work our way down to second grade, about 15 minutes in each class.  Here you can find a map of the wards of Chicago and explain what an Alderperson's responsibilities are to their constituents.

Grade PK - 2 and 111
A real fire truck is on the way!!! I'm not sure of the time just yet; I will find out in the morning when I call.  I promise I will let you know as early as possible! As you can understand, they can't guarantee a slot for us as there is no predicting an emergency. I'm looking to avoid preschool nap time (1-2) and lunch times.

All Staff
Cindy has some more raffles for us tomorrow!!!!!  Always on the lookout for Caller #5!!

Thank you Ms. Lugo and Ms. Villafuerte for providing lunch tomorrow! And what a nice treat today with the donations from Sugar Shack, Kristoffers, LaPlacita, and Manny's Bakery! It was a great balance of snacks and steps - my kind of day!!

Hi All,

Good news!  Alderwoman Julia Ramirez will be at Greene Thursday for Career Day. She will have a table where all students can visit her and ask questions. (She will be here Thursday only not Wednesday).

Thank you,

Just want to say, Kelly, I honestly was not sure about how this "Scavenger Hunt" was going to come out, during such a busy time, but it turned out to be one of the BEST activities I have done with my class in many years---- and it was SOOOO NICE to walk and explore our neighborhood! We have so many nice attractions and sincere people to meet! Thank you for such a great opportunity for the kids (and myself)! xoxo 214 😍😍😍

The firetruck will be here at 9 : )
We will start with preschool and go up from there.  The goal is for all of the grades to interact with the firefighters and the truck - so please be on the lookout for a call down about 15 minutes after the grade before you.  Please feel free to use the adorable coloring sheets Adriana sent last week to give to them!

And I meant to say THANK YOU for such kind words about yesterday!! McKinley Park is such a cool community and the shop owners/bakery owners/librarians/mail carriers/ truck drivers (HONK HONK) were incredibly welcoming to our little groups.  I'd love to see hear how your wheels were spinning about making this even more impactful for next year : )
