Porous concrete pavements are a very good solution to filtering rain
water and preventing water logging on roads.
Porous concrete is quite simple to make - fine sand is sieved out and
only coarse sand and gravel is used.

US EPA is experimenting with this -

Dear Mr.Bhaskar,

By using deo-composite material which are permeable in nature can be
implemented in a much better way and countries like Australia and
Malaysia have been far ahead than USA and India in this regard.

I don't think sand is used in these permeable pavements and if sand is
used after some time they get clogged.

Even traditional rain water harvesting system implemented on these
lines using sand and gravel are technically not correct. You will be
surprised to note that traditional rain water/storm harvesting system
is expensive than that made up of geo composite material. However roof
gardens, pavements, podium gardens are at par/slightly expensive than
traditional systems wherein sand and gravel are used.

Currently we are executing a project, wherein 25-40% savings are
realised at implementation stage itself and this field is at a very
nascent stage in India.

Please feel free to contact for implementing such solutions.

Regards,

Dear Mr.Bhaskar & Other Members,

Sorry for typographic error. Please read as Geo-Composite in place of
Deo-Composite.

Dear friends,

Does anyone have any idea about the NET power efficiency/ PLF that one can achieve through PV panels, in say the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan?

Thanks,

For what it's worth, I got 20% of the panel's peak rated power in
sunny southern California averaged over this past spring and summer,

The fellow in http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2338834,00.asp
in somewhat less sunny northern california did about the same over
roughly the same time period (I calculated 20.5% from his figures).

Dear Friends,

Would someone please, explain to us what Geo-composite material is all about?
Also, is there an alternative to bitumen surfaces? like organic enzyme soil stabilizers, that can be used for road surfacing.
Thank you very much.
