Interesting enough.. consider the stick check where the D man never touches the ball-only the stick. Expect some argument. Several ways it can be handled.. obviuosly one can lie and say the D touched it. But then you discount the great play by the defender.(?Any other thoughts on this.) You have to be confident in your call because one coach will disagree and argue, so you must have a strong understanding of the rule. I agree that the last to touch the ball as it goes out of the attack box determines the call. Remember it could be a play-on? but only if the D has a QUICK chance to pick it up and go. Don't let too much time be wasted if the D cannot readily pick up the loose ball.

In your situation as described, here is what happens:?As a ref, we?have an immediate "play-on" (which should not last for more than 1-3 seconds.) Once team A gets the ball the "play-on" is over ( correct mechanic is to yell the color of the team that is to get possession, which indicates the play-on is over).? Since the infraction is a "loose ball" play, no time will be served.Once possession is achieved, the players behind the restraining line are released, thus no time can ever be served for this violation; only awarding the possession of the ball.

Good question. The count (20 or 10) depends upon possession in high school (Federation). All you said appears to be true if I understood you correctly.? Yes, there are times in fed where there is no count. IE, A player, long pole, in his defensive end of field passes the ball forward across midfield? and no possession is achieved- ball is being kicked around- so NO count. But if that same long pole carried ball across midline and? was checked immediately, losing control/possession, the 10 sec count starts when he crossed midline.
