Help, please ...

I'm new to Greasemonkey and JavaScript in general, and I did search a *ton* of messages on the forums and the Wiki and this group, and I must be blind because I can't find any specific mention of my problem.

In a nutshell, whenever I click on the "Install this script" button, or d-n-d a script onto an opened Firefox page, or drill down through "File --> "Open File ..." all that happens is that the script itself opens as a plain text file in a new tab in Firefox.  I can't get FF to actually install any dang script.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drop of GM without any errors.  Nothing shows on the JavaScript console, error-wise.  I've scrolled through all the entries using "about:config" but nothing jumps out at me.  Other FF tools, like extensions and schemes all install without issue.

I feel stupid asking for help because I'm sure it's something silly and minor I'm missing, but can anyone offer any suggestions on what to check?

The only fly in the ointment is that this is on a OS/2 system, but with the latest greatest Firefox installed, etc.  So I don't think it is an operating-system problem.

TIA
Gregory L. Marx

It very well may be. But have you tried a blank profile?

same problem here. I click the Install link on a page, the GM window
pops up, all the other buttons on it (Cancel, view source) work, but
clicking Install does nothing.

Creating a new script so I can paste the code in doesn't work either.

Windows XP Pro, latest FF.

I don't think that's the same. Have you read:

(And is there anything in your Error Console?)

Not yet, but I suppose if there isn't anything else to try I'll have to do that.

Thanks

I don't know if this is addressed to me or Fred, but you're correct this isn't the same issue that Fred is having.  And I did read through the troubleshooting link provided but didn't see anything pertinent to the problem I'm having.

Thanks
