I apologize if this post is not relevant to this group, but I have a
script that stopped working today for some users, and I don't know
where to get help. My script runs in Gmail using the Greasemonkey API
for Gmail. When I sign in to Gmail, the app fails to load and an error
window pops up with the message

Exception in main script: Service for "i" is not registered

If I remove my script and clear the browser cache, Gmail works OK.

I presume this Service "i" is some Google service, but I have no idea
whether my problem is due an error on Google's part or some
intentional change being made to Gmail. Does anyone know what Service
"i" is or could point me in a direction to understand what the problem
is?

Thanks,
john

Hi John,

You are not the only seeing this. I am seeing it in my addon
(Integrated Gmail) and Andy is seeing it in his (GTDInbox). It happens
if you try to use the getNav or addNav functions. We are trying to
find work arounds as well as get in touch with google.

Thanks for confirming that, Michael. (heady sigh) Three days now and
no news. I'm not connected to Google at all, but I was hoping
*someone* might be able to find out what happened.

I am a bit surprised at how few people noticed the change. The total
number of people using Gmail extensions must be quite small, possibly
in the hundreds? Give that, I suppose there is no reason, other than
maybe ethical, for Google to continue supporting the API. Whatever the
case, it appears that we'll all have to come up with an alternate UI
for our scripts.
