anybody that actually has an account with grand central have contact
with the group? I mean from outside looking in nothing is happening.
No numbers given out. The blog hasn't been updated since april. If
they're not dead saying so at least every three months doesn't seem
like to hard a task.
Agreed! I've applied several times for a number (once or twice
because I forgot I'd tried before), only to find out it's been dead in
the water since early spring. At the very least, they should remove
the page that says you can apply!

Just because you don't have an invite doesn't make it dead. I've been
with GC since the first beta invite and haven't used another phone
number since - and have never had an issue with it. I don't think
Google bought the service just to shut it down.
Vocito was written by a Google employee during his 20% - and he works
in the Google Mac dev team.

I like the service too. But the longer it goes without some sort of
activity the more likely that Google will eventually pull the plug.
Would they buy it just to pull the plug? That's two different
questions asked at two separate times 1) buy the company? 2) pull the
plug?
And yes, they could answer yes to both questions. This is much more
common in acquisitions than you might think.
Its sad to say, but Google is looking more and more like Microsoft
everyday.

Only place you can get them are on eBay! I didn't see how that was
possible since most users had their invites stripped. Some people
still do have them, tho. Google employees?? ...trying to see what
GC's actual market value is?
I paid $125 yesterday, and I think it's gonna be worth it so long as
they stay online for more than a year. I don't care if they open it
up tomorrow. It's still worth $125 to me. GC is 10x more flexible
than I imagined. I LOVE IT!
I was wondering about this... I see several auction for GC invites on
ebay, going anywhere from $60-$200. Do they work? From previous
posts, I thought that unused invites had been retracted and would no
longer work.

I would invite every single person that asked if I could but Grand
Central has disabled invites and there's absolutely nothing that I or
any other GC user can do to help. Sorry but it's not our fault.
