Volunteering and Photovoice Project

Quick reminders.

1) GradPride will join the SSPSA Mason Day of Service!
Canal Stewards at the River Center at Lock 8 Sunday, October 30,
9-10:30 am. Help the Conservancy clean up and beautify the land and
water surrounding Lock 8, and along miles 8 and 9 of the C&O Canal
towpath. Wear clothes that can get dirty- Potomac Conservancy provide
all the necessary tools and equipment. Meet outside Founders Hall at
8:30am to carpool with the SPPSA board and fellow students! Email me
if your interested to get a GradPride headcount.

2) OUTlook on Mason: LGBTQ Photovoice
Are you an LGBTQ student ages 18-24? Would you like to share your
experiences at Mason and make recommendations to improve the campus
climate for LGBTQ students? Then join the LGBTQ photoVOICE project.

Participants will:
--Take photographs of significant people, places and things in their
lives and discuss them with other participants.
--Take part in a photo exhibit and community forum with university
administrators and policymakers.

This research will take place over 5 months (November - April) and
participants will meet twice a month for 10 group sessions (one-two
hours each). Not only will you get to keep your photographs but upon
completion of the project you'll receive $150 in compensation. In
addition, you will gain experience working with faculty, staff, and
other students helping to improve the quality of life and campus
climate for LGBTQ students. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. Friday,
