Just think, Grommett could be PM and you'd all be queuing at the food banks sleeping on the streets, happy new year to you all.

Lol TB on the pavements eh ! Bit too close to the gutters where some live for my liking.
Happy new year to you too. I was going to say prosperous but that's equivalent to a swear word for some.

It won't be prosperous, not under this lot, not unless he is already
loaded!

We all seem to look forward to the government of the day making us
happy and prosperous, but as that is impossible,,can I wish that you
all become prosperous and happy by your own efforts and enterprise,
with that bit of luck and good fortune that oils the way..

Micawber Principle, based upon his observation:

"Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen pounds
nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds,
annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery."
Prosperous or not your never going to be satisfied with your life, or
happy within your own limitations. You don't have to be rich to be
contented and your too busy wanting what other people have.
"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take
thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil
thereof."
In other words, don't borrow trouble from tomorrow by worrying about
tomorrow today. Today's trouble is enough for today.

It becomes clear that the Tory element in this gvt are not strong enough to make the necessary cuts in waste and the immense welfare bill .its a shame that in the interests of the nation the opposition won't follow the advice of ex chancellor Darling and instead put party popularity as their prime objective into getting into power again.
Any expert will tell you that we are still spending more than we earn and tell you what the only course of action is to cut waste and make more cuts and any gvt hopefully will take that action but at the moment by keeping quiet about what they would have to do gains Labour their popularity. Dirty business this politics.

Spending cuts are not going to resolve this problem, Jar. When are you going to realise that?

Once again you like to overlook all informed opinion AFFA . Daily we hear or read those that know their business state what I've said. The welfare system is being dreadfully abused still despite scroungers being actively pursued . Don't you heed expert opinions or is it necessary to ignore them . I realise socialists and fellow travellers find it electorally useful to demonise the gvt for doing what has to be done but there are those that can understand what they are trying to tell us. If Labour get in you will see them following Darlings advice , who knows if Millieband has permission he will get rid of the useless and unstable Balls and bring the man back to the front bench that is if Darling doesn't give them up as a lost cause and retire from politics as he has mooted.
That side apart government remains far too large . Tax must be reduced and incentives encouraged. Those that produce wealth must not be envied as they produce real jobs and the necessary monies to support genuine welfare.
I'm afraid the more you try and impose your will suggesting those that think differently are ignorant the more out of orbit you appear but you seem to enjoy that position

There are and always will be abuses of any system. Be it benefit cheats, tax dodgers, or Whitehall administrators.
The easiest to sort out is Welfare dependeny because it is means tested ......... checks can easily be made on claiments to discover if they are telling the truth.
Of course when you cut social services staff, flood the desks with thousands more applicants, making these checks gets put off ........ too busy, undermanned.
Causes and effects result in consequences ...... if only GO understood that the consequences he struggles with are caused by his own actions.

Well Affa if its that easy Labours methods only ended up in increasing those that they encouraged to opt for life on welfare. You have to understand the obvious when you can see the amount of immigrants that have taken the jobs that Brown declared British jobs for British people. You told us that immigrants were not eligible for welfare until they had been here for five years well if that's so ill remind you that necessity is the mother of invention . The Brits know they qualify for benefits whilst the others don't.
I understand that a requirement for coming to live and work here is to be able to speak English if that's the case how come we spend so much on interpreters they should be used to tell these people that they don't qualify and off they go

Easiest way to cut the handouts budget is to reduce all working age benefits to the able by 50% for starters, stop paying handouts for breeding humans save a universal child benefit for up to two children only, and make all working age able supplicants report at least twice a week to sign on and pay benefit of work benefits in specific item food vouchers only for those remaining out of work for more than six months
