Dear Reader,

British Gas hinted today that energy prices could be on their way up, with wholesale gas prices around 15% higher for this winter compared to last year. This increase is expected to hike the cost of supplying the average UK household. [1]

For consumers, today’s announcement is a warning that prices could rise before the end of the year. With many still struggling to come to terms with the last two rounds of price hikes – which saw bills rise £224 or 21% in a period of less than 18 months[2], we urge households to make sure they are on a competitively priced energy plan and ensure homes are as energy efficient as possible by taking up one of the many subsidised insulation offers.
