  Postal Service intends to issue a solicitation (contingent upon funds
  approval) to purchase 347 cab behind engine (CBE) and 67 cab over engine
  (COE) truck tractors, plus an option quanity. The individual quantities
  are: 217 -- CBE single axle 65,000 lb GCWR and 130 -- CBE tandem axle
  80,000 lb GCWR; 42 -- COE single axle 65,000 lb GCWR and 25 -- COE tandem
  axle 80,000 lb GCWR. Anticipated solicitation issuance date is late May
  1998, with proposals due approximately 45 days thereafter. Contract award
  is planned for late July 1998 with the first articles due in October and
  production commencing in December. Mail your written request to the
