I've been using Scala for a year or two, and I just discovered Gosu
about 5 minutes ago. I doubt I will switch to Gosu anytime soon, but
I'd be curious to know what advantages it has over Scala, if any. I
saw the table comparing various language features with several other
languages, including Scala, but I did not see any significant
advantages over Scala there. Thanks.

We should establish a FAQ on this topic, it's come up a couple of time.

The short answer is that Gosu is simpler than Scala (simpler generics, limited operator overloading) but a bit more firmly statically typed than, say, Groovy.

Cheers,
Carson

Thanks for the reply. I just took another look at the comparison
table. I see three advantages shown over Scala. I don't understand
what "Extensible type system" and "Reified generics" mean. The one I
understand is "Easy transition from Java." That could obviously be
very important to those who are heavily invested in Java, but that
doesn't include me. In any case, it'll be interesting to see how this
plays out.
