Thank you, Steve. Do you know if the "statment of principles" is the
same as the platform? :)

Brian,

Thank you. This is very eye opening for me, being a new resident of Massachusetts. However, I saw no mention of Right to Life vs Right to Chose nor any language affirming marriage as an exclusive union between a man and a woman. I hope these will be addressed in the newer platform.

Steve,

In looking over the 2006 Platform, I note contrasts between it and the SRTC Statement of Principles.  Is there any way that we can impact the Platform to more strongly reflect our beliefs, in time for or at the State convention?

Fred,

I noticed the same thing.  I m a republic a n largely because of  my assumption that is pro-life and pro family.  If they do not stand for this, I’ll become an independent.

Thanks for the support, Ed. I'm independent/unenrolled. In NY I was a Conservative.  I'd like to think that it was the unenrolled that carried Scott Brown to his win. Its going to be up to the Republican Party to rally the unenrolled to thier side very quickly or they could miss out on the 2010 November elections, including Charlie Baker and the Governor's Mansion.

I am not on the platform committee.

The only thing I will have to do with the document is if they ask me to collate, staple and hand it out at the Convention.

Well, let me weigh in here.

I am as Pro-Life and for marriage to be between a man and a woman as any one amongst you.  I would love to have that built into the platform. Brian, how might we influence that?

On the other hand, not having it in is not a reason to abandon the Party. Even if some candidates (e.g. Scott Brown) are not pure Pro-Lifers, most GOP candidates are much more toward that than the Dems. The one of probably 50 phone calls I got on the Senatorial election, the one that impressed me the most was one that stated: "Politics is the art of the imperfect (i.e. Pro life), so vote your conscience".

You can't stand aside and not help influence the process. Surely, in this two party system, you don't want to join the Dems? Being Independent is fine, but takes you out of the battle!

Regards,

Jack

P.s. My Email below was meant for those that said they would "become Independent if the platform did not include a Pro-Life platform".

In reading my own Email (before any one else responded to it), it did not have anything to do with Brian and his response. If any one thought that, it was very wrong!

Brian does a terrific job on our behalf, no matter what your beliefs. I totally applaud him and all his efforts on the job he does.

Would not Jeanne be the proper contact for matters like this?  Any change would definitely have to be affected through a liaison with the State Party.  The contact information I have for Jeanne is below.  Not sure if this is up-to-date.

To: Matt Kianamen,

The Stow Republican Town Committee has produced a Statement of
Principles, which differs in specifics from the principles defined on
the State GOP's Web site. To the extent that our statement may also
differ from the State Platform, we would like somehow to impact the
Platform, before the State Convention in April. Could you please
return the current Platform and the email address of the appropriate
contact for inputs to the Platform. I will send our Principles in
the next email.

Thank you.
Very Respectfully,

Ed Grund
