I see in my webmaster tools that I am at the position 9 for "builders
overstock", however when I click on it it is nowhere to be found..
(Body building website comes up though - relevance galore I suppose,
if I am looking for "Yankees training kit":))
I understand that webmaster lists are not absolute, they are
agglomerates from different centers you have, so I really cannot take
it at the face value, however, most of the times it is a few positions
off, plus or minus, but in this case I am nowhere to be found. So the
question is, can my competitors affect my ranking if I get to high in
their opinion? "Overstock" is a sweet word to have in any combination,
I am sure there are whole lot of people looking at who is showing up.
I noticed that my ranking seems to start growing, but than at some
point become stagnant, can my positions be affected by third party?
Thanks!
.. my apology for sarcasm, could not help it:))
Hello
The ways a competitor can affect your website
1) Their website is better
2) They report you for spam and your site does have spam.
3) They report you for paid links and you do have paid links.

"Website is better" is fair enough we all are trying to be better, it
is obvious, as to the other two what can I do to prevent it? I do not
have spam and I do not pay for links nor do I accept money for links.

If you don't have spam and you don't sell links and they report your
42,000,000 times (Adam's words not mine) you have nothing to worry
about. If you do have spam and sell links, then you do have something
to worry about.
So the question that needs to be asked is, why are you worried?

ok, so google knows if spam report was fraudulent, paid links I am not
sure - how would they know?
I am not worried, I noticed some pattern and I am asking question
about it to understand it better. I am trying to do business and would
like to protect it from search engines "mood swings" or some know-it-
all scummy webmaster
