server to server sessions not using SSL nor TLS

We use openfire from jivesoftware for our internal XMPP jabber server
(XMPP server) and watch it from time to time to ensure that it is
setting up sessions with both clients & servers over SSL or TLS. This
works fine. We use a digital certificate from caCert. We notice it

Ithink the reason I don't see the typing icon is because i am going in
through the google talk button on my toolbar -- that chat window is a
little different. How do I sign in the traditional way that shows the
talk bubble and the settings?

Usually when I am chatting I can see an icon that shows the other
person is typing. I do not see that feature anymore -- are there
different types of windows? Am I signing on w/a different gadget?

I now own a Samsung SCH-i760 smart phone. Is there a version of

Blackberry version but I can't find anything else.

problems with gmail notifier

I'm using gmail notifier with windows vista and Internet Explorer 7
I cannot get into my inmbox from the envelope bottom right because
internet problem (not answering) while I can get into my account from
google page.
Is there any way I can fix this?

lately friends and myself are unable to send files: we always get the
message:
"You cannot send files because <name> is using chat in Gmail or is
using another chat program."
None of us is logged on in Gmail; none of us is using another client;
