Hi,

I am a Malay translator for Google, and several Open Source software
such as Abiword and KDE.

Recently, I notice that the Malay translation for Google search has
been changed to use rude and sex related word, which makes the Google
Malaysia in Malay look bad.

The translation page is not changing the word as soon as possible,
because it thinks that the translation is good.

I would like to ask Google how they can determine the translation is
good, while me as a native speaker of the language can directly
determine at first glance that the translation is not good?

Is anybody verifying the translation on behalf of Google?

The changes that I have done need to be applied as soon as possible.

Thank you.

I believed that this way- Wiki/everybody-can-translate-a-website style
should be improved.

Translation needs a coordinator,at least by looking at his
contributions/translation effort. These person should maintain the
translation/change and report directly to Google Translation Committee.

I am not sure if this google-malay has been 100% translated,if so, any
new change should be *freezed* .

Any ammendments should be forward to coordinator.

I want to give example of Plone translation
http://plone.org/development/teams/i18n/existing-translations

They have Quality Assurance person-3rd party person which will approve
any translation from any language.

I believe this is a bottleneck, however, but worth at the cost of quality

:)

Najmi.
