What is google.public.labs.google-deskbar?

Google.public.labs.google-deskbar is an unmoderated forum whose
purpose is to provide discussion about the Google Labs Google Deskbar
demo. This group is currently only available through Google Groups.
Any individual with a question or comment about using Google Deskbar
may post here.

The Google Deskbar demo is an experimental PC application for
searching Google directly from the Windows taskbar or from your
keyboard. You can access Google searches using a keyboard shortcut
"ctrl-alt-G" from any application on your computer. Google Deskbar can
display search results in a sliding "mini-viewer" pane, enabling you
to view search results without switching context away from your
current task. Additionally, users can add additional searches of any site
on the Web using the "customized searches" feature.

Google Deskbar is available on http://labs.google.com, Google's
technology playground. For more information about Google Deskbar
features, please see http://toolbar.google.com/deskbar/help/.

Occasionally Google employees may post to the group. Any Google
employee who participates in the group will always post with BOTH the
name "Google Employee" and email labs+d...@google.com.

Google.public.labs.google-deskbar encourages free and open discussion
on all aspects of the Google Labs Google Deskbar demo. However, posts
not on this topic are not welcome. We reserve the right to delete
posts that we consider inappropriate.

In addition, this group explicitly prohibits

* The posting of commercial advertisements or other
promotional material
* Spamming/excessive multi-posting
* Usenet chain letters
* Binary (non-text) postings
* Forgery of another user's identity

If you would like to report abuse on
google.public.labs.google-deskbar, send an email to

In order to create a constructive forum, all who post to
google.public.labs.google-deskbar are encouraged to follow the general
posting tips found below.

General posting tips:

* Posts should carry a clear, descriptive subject line.

I am truly amazed. Google has done it again.

At first I thought "oh well.. a preemptive Google move against MSFT
Longhorn". But then i tried it.. CTRL-ALT-G and then that GREAT
minibrowser appeared.

Google Deskbar is a MUST-HAVE for all of you. Before you even know it,
you'll become addicted.

BTW, a note to Google Labs: Can you do as in Dave's Tootlbar, and make
a clock appear when u dont use the toolbar? In that way, I can replace
Windows clock and save some space.

Cheers,

Sergio
