1. Search before you ask.

We can't emphasize this enough. Many times questions have already been asked & answered in the
group. If you haven't browsed or searched our Help Center- check there
for information first. If you're looking
in the group, search for your question/topic using the search box at
the top of the page. If a thread already exists, add to it instead of
starting a new one! We have helpful users, but you can imagine that
they don't have time to answer the same questions multiple times a day. Adding
to existing threads also helps the Guides note trends and spot bugs
quickly.
You'll
notice that when you start drafting a new topic, a list of related
threads appears next to your draft. Check here again to make sure the
thread doesn't already exist!
2. Pick the most relevant category for your post.
Here's a breakdown and description of what goes where...
General Discussion- Post announcements, suggestions, feedback
Google Video for Newbies- Ask your basic questions here
User Tips & Tricks- Share your Google Video findings & tips with other users
Updates & Alerts- Discuss troubleshooting tips and problems you're having
3. Make your post stand out by including the following:
- An accurate subject line.
You may think "ATTN GOOGLE- HELP ME NOW!!" will attract everyone's
attention (or specifically ours), but mostly folks will glaze right
over it. Instead, give a quick, accurate summary of the topic and issue
such as "Video not embedding correctly" or "How can I embed my video?"
Descriptive subject lines make it easier for others to find your post
when they search.
- Appropriate details.
If you're having a technical issue, giving as many details as possible
will help others pinpoint the problem. Helpful information may include:
the video URL, any error message you're seeing, steps to reproduce the
issue, the frequency of the problem, and if you've experienced it on
another browser/operating system/computer.
Do not include details that are not appropriate for this space.
Don't share your password(s) or other personally
identifying/private information in this group.
4. Be respectful.
Stay on topic and be kind, helpful and constructive. Some users are just
getting started, so be patient and courteous to all users seeking help.
Remember
that we do reserve the right to immediately and permanently ban abusive
folks from the group without notice or regret. If you have questions, please read the Google Groups Terms of Service.
5. Pay it forward!
Once you find an answer for your question, it doesn't mean you need to
leave! We'd love for you to stick around and help out other folks.
Everyone is thankful for the help, and we really appreciate the
assistance in improving this forum for users to interact with each
other.
While we know you're all busy folks, next
time you're in the group and see a question regarding something you're
familiar with- jump in and help them out. Not only will
you be doing a great service to this group, you'll gain the attention
of our Guides who are constantly looking for people who repeatedly post
respectful, helpful answers.
