We know there have been a lot of issues and confusion surrounding
Google Sync for your BlackBerry phone. We suggest, as a starting
point, to download the latest version of Sync (version 0.4.4). This
version contains fixes to some of the most common user issues.
To download Sync, visit m.google.com/sync from your BlackBerry phone.
Once you have downloaded this most recent version, and if you are
still having problems, let us know in this thread.
I have version 0.4.4 on my blackberry, and can only achieve a google
to bb sync. I can't send appointments from my bb and see them on my
google calendar.
Device model: Blackberry curve 8330
Mobile service provider: Verizon
Mobile OS and version: 4.3.0.127
Mobile Browser: blackberry browser 4.3.0
Country: USA
Issue Summary: Set an appointment on my BB, then did a manual sync
Expected result - Expected apointment to be visible in my google
calendar on my desktop computer.
Actual result - Did not see appointment in calendar.
Steps to reproduce -
1. Set appointment on BB
2. manual sync with google on BB
3. View google calendar on desktop computer
Like Kafarnsworth, my BB Calendar does not sync/upload to Google
Calendar.
* Device model: Blackberry Curve 8320
* Mobile service provider: T-Mobile
* Mobile OS and version: BB v4.2.2.180
* Mobile Browser: Blackberry
* Country: United States
* Issue Summary:
Environment is Windows XP SP2, Outlook 2003 SP 2, Blackberry Desktop
Manager 4.3.0.17, Google Sync for Blackberry 0.4.4.
o Expected result - Calendar entries created in Outlook, synced to
Blackberry via USB cable will appear on Google Calendar
o Actual result - Calendar entries in Outlook and on Blackberry
Calendar do NOT appear on Google Calendar.
o Steps to reproduce - Either a) Create entry in Outlook, sync to
BB via USB, or b) create entry on BB then -- launch "Sync Now" from BB
Calendar app, watch NO upload activity, reload iGoogle Calendar page
items do not appear.
I followed your instruction and received Sorry Google Sync is not
supported on your device (Verizon Blackberry 8830). I had Sync
operational and working beautifully last week and cannot load it on my
replacement phone.

After verifying that I could only sync from Google to BB, and not BB
to Google, I deleted google sync 0.4.4 and then reinstalled it from
the emailed link. The syncing then went both ways, from G to BB and
BB to G.
I'll keep tabs on how long it lasts.
I really want this to work, since I work in an area that doesn't allow
phones, but google calendar will email a reminder to my pager, which
is allowed.
I'm also not receiving any events I create on my blackberry when I
check my Google Calendar online.
Created events from Google Calendar show up on my Blackberry (8110),
but not vice versa (created on my BB8110 - doesn't show up on google
calendar)
I don't know what else to do, any help is greatly appreciated.

To clarify, events that are on your BlackBerry calendar before you
install and run Google Sync will not get synced. In other words, once
you have installed and started running Google Sync, only events added
to your BlackBerry calendar after that point will be synced to your
Google Calendar.
To the users not seeing events go from phone to Google Calendar, have
you tried adding an event on your BlackBerry after re-installing Sync,
and then syncing?
@ don_bear_wilkinson...
We will not add events to your Google Calendar that have been added to
your BlackBerry phone by a third party. We recommend trying out the
Google Calendar Sync. You can read more here:http://www.google.com/ support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=89955. You should be able
to follow the steps outlined there to sync your Outlook and Google
Calendars.
@ D072352
We're looking into any issues with the download page that might
prevent you from being able to download Sync. In the meantime, here's
the direct link to the download page:

Bret,
thanks for the replies - to myself and others.
I would like to suggest things;
1) Make it much clearer, in any and all documentation for this app,
that it enjoys a certain lack of functionality. I don't mean to be
snarky there, I mean that it would help people if they would know UP
FRONT, that "This application will only be able to sync items that are
MANUALLY added to the Blackberry AFTER Google Sync for Mobile is
installed. Existing calendar entries and (new) items synced to the
Blackberry from other products, such as Microsoft Outlook, are NOT
synced." I spent three hours trying to fix the un-fixable because it
never occurred to me that this app was... ummm... incapable of what
seems like fairly straightforward functionality. This information
should appear on http://www.google.com/mobile/blackberry/sync/index.html since there is no ZIP file download to put a README file in or other
standard documentation location. It should probably also appear in
some popup or on screen element during installation of the application
itself, on the device.
2) Feature request: the ability to sync "all events after/between
date(s)" or similar function to address the 'doesn't sync older
entries' issue
3) Feature request: Ability to sync entries not entered at
Blackberry. However, I'm guessing that something about how Sync
'notices' a new entry relies on some flag that only gets set if the
entry is created on the Blackberry itself. That synced items just
sort of 'appear' without that flag being toggled(?). S
Thanks for your time, help and consideration of these issues

I was able to get around this "feature" with a simple export of
calendar items as a csv file (windows) from outlook, selecting only
the calendar, and then giving it a date range of a couple of years
(back 2, forward 1). Then I imported this csv to Google Calendar and
did a sync on my BBerry. Everything works great now... both calendars
are lined up and all changes moving forward will sync like they are
supposed to.
It's important to note that I did this import to a BLANK Google
Calendar.

This info really needs to be on the Google Sync info on the website. I
was very frustrated because I too thought this was a very basic
function that should have been performed...to my syncing a calendar
means taking all events from one and putting it on the other...I'm now
going to go try and wipe my calendar and re-add everythng and see if
it syncs.
I love Google products...but you guys need to be clearer sometimes.

My google snc seems to be working for now. Appointments on my BB are
going to my google calendar. But I noticed that they are created with
the reminder option "popup" selected. My default in google calendars
is an email reminder, since I am seldom at my computer when the alarm
goes off. I have the reminders emailed to my pager so I can receive
them, even when I'm someplace cell phones aren't allowed.
Is there a way to get appointments to sync to my google calendar with
an email reminder? This sounds like it may be a Bret question.
Under my original install of Google Sync, calendar entries created on
my BB would not appear on Google Calendar, and entries originally
created on Google Calendar did sync, but if I edited them on my BB,
they would disappear from Google Calendar. At that time I had two
Google Calendars synced, one of which contained a recurring event with
exceptions, and I had multiple copies of events from both Google
Calendars appearing on my BB.
I logged out of Google Sync, removed all remaining copies of
duplicated events manually, and then re-installed using the link
provided above. At this time I'm only syncing one Google Calendar,
but it seems to be working just fine.
I heartily agree with Don. The whole purpose of a calendar sync is to
enable multi-location and multi-program fit. If it is sketchy, it is
useless to me. I will go back to the BB Desktop manager and the
Schedule World calendar sync for Google and Outlook. At least the only
problem I have with that workaround is occasional duplications--not
deletions or failures to copy, which ruin my performance.
If this app ever gets it right for BB VZW Pearl, I will be back!

Good to hear someone was able to sync UP to Google from newly created
BB calendar entry. I'm having the same issue with my BBcurve. So,
how'd you do it? Thanks, Scott.

Bret, no real issues, but a forward looking feature to discuss...
I've got the new 4.5 OS loaded on my Blackberry and there's a
compelling new feature in this new version.
In previous versions of the OS, at least for BES users, there was just
one Calendar. Now, with the new OS, calendar events can be associated
either to the "Desktop" calendar or one of the BIS (personal)
accounts. I'm an avid Google Calendar user, but just for my personal
life. I really don't want my personal entries to sync down to my
"Desktop" BB calendar and then up to my corporate calendar.
In the future, it would be great if Google Sync could have the option
to specify which BB calendar to sync my Google calendar with.

Hello,
I have a new VZW Blackberry Pearl 8130. I have an unlimited data plan
from Verizon and the newest version of Sync installed (0.4.4). For a
few weeks, it's been working perfectly on automatic sync. Events I
add to Google calendar show up in the Blackberry calendar, and events
added to my Blackberry calendar show up quickly on Gcal.
Today it broke. It will sync new events from Google calendar to my
Blackberry, but if I add a new event to the BB calendar, the sync
fails (whether it is an auto sync or a forced manual sync).
Specifically, if I select "Sync Now", the BB will connect to Google,
update calendar listings, download each of my calendars in turn, and
then, when it attempts to upload new events, the download fails. I
get the following error message: "Sync Failed! Server problem, check
settings or try back later."
I've signed out of and back into Sync, reset sync, turned off the
device and pulled the battery... all to no avail.
It really seems like a problem on Google's end, since it was working
perfectly before and I haven't changed anything... any thoughts or
suggestions? Not being able to add events from my BB significantly
reduces the usefulness of the app.

I have version 0.4.4 on my blackberry, and can only achieve a google
to bb sync. I can't send appointments from my bb and see them on my
google calendar.
Same as many others.
Device model: Blackberry curve 8310
Mobile service provider: Rogers
Mobile OS and version: 4.2.2.163
Mobile Browser: blackberry browser
Country: Canada
Issue Summary: Set an appointment on my BB, then did a manual sync
Expected result - Expected apointment to be visible in my google
calendar on my desktop computer.
Actual result - Did not see appointment in calendar.
Steps to reproduce -
1. Set appointment on BB
2. manual sync with google on BB
3. View google calendar on desktop computer
I then tried to uninstall and email sync application but it would not
recognize my cel phone number.

I've installed Sync 0.4.4 to my US T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve OS
v4.2.2.180. However it still seems to incorrectly sync repeating all
day events added to the phone (on Google Calendar they appear to be
off by amount of the GMT offset to my time zone). Was this one of the
issues that were supposed to be fixed?
Hi Brett,
May I ask if you would please go through each step, even the tiny
ones, to uninstall and then reinstall google sync? how and when do the
calendars come into this? Don't we need to do the same for those, in a
certain order, as well?
Thank you very much,
Huh? HK
