Hi,

I am working on being able to give a GSOC presentation at two
universities I have
associations with. I recall there were presentations somewhere but so
far have
only found a 4 slide one from LH with info up to 2007.

Where are the best GSOC materials these days? Help!

One of them will likely be in mid-February, is that too late to be
recruiting?

Try:

Other mentors and students have created presentations that may be more up to date, and if there are specific statistics you need feel free to ping back here.

Not likely - we're on much the same timeline as last year.

Best,
LH

This is a great presentation. I will try to update it as much as I
can at this point
given that the schedule is not set and send them to you so they
can be finished off for GSOC 2009.

Do you happen to know whether Pawel created them in ooo or
powerpoint? Both
versions have formatting problems with the slides that do not appear
in the PDF.

What were the totals for organizations, students, and countries for
2008? I
need to update the graphs on slide 12.

I created the presentation in Keynote and exported to PowerPoint and then used OpenOffice to convert it to OO format.

If you need it in some specific format let me know.

Cheers,

No need. I just suspected there was a disconnect somewhere since
the formatting wasn't quite right in either OOO or Powerpoint.

I have both Powerpoint and OpenOffice so have no problem starting
with either. Are you OK with me updating the PowerPoint version as a
starting point for 2009?

It goes without saying that I will send it to you and Leslie to review
and
get further updates as more info becomes available.

For 2008, I have found this info so far:

1125 students
83% final success rate

How many organizations and countries are represented?

Since most of the presentation is "timeless" once I have that
incorporated, I will sent it to you and Pawel for review.

For 2008, I have found this info so far:

1125 students

How many organizations and countries are represented?

175 organizations
98 countries

Since most of the presentation is "timeless" once I have that
incorporated, I will sent it to you and Pawel for review.

Pawel is busy working on Melange, so I am happy to take a look. Thank you very much for your help with this item, Joel.

Best,
LH

Let him work on Melange and leave the slide hacking to me. :)

Will the presentations be updated on the presentation site? I could
try to give a presentation at my university, given the administration
allows me to.
