Anyone from Mozilla Project ?

For long, i have been having this idea of implementing a memory
manager for firefox. The idea that i have is like this. At startup, we
pre-allocate a percentage of the system's ram (around 10% or so). Once
that is done, we allocate and free into this memory pool. We can even
make this a user configurable parameter. I think once we do this,
complaints of memory usage against firefox can be resolved.
I don't think i can get around to working on this myself as i have
just finished graduate school. However, if the Mozilla foundation is
willing to take this up for the summer of code project, i can mentor
the students who would be doing this.

I'd suggest you reach out to the Mozilla Foundation directly and let
them know you'd like to mentor.

It's great idea for a project. What u think is needed for this kind of
project?
I meant what student need knowledge to apply to this project, from
programing languages to experience in programing...
I'm programing about 7 years now. From 1st grade of high school with
Pascal to c,c++, matlab and now I'm on learning Java :)
Whit that memory allocation FireFox will be much better and go in
front of competition :)
I'm also impressed with Summer of Code program, organization and
opportunities that google give to students around whole world.
