Hi Graham,
I'm not with Google, but I think I know what their answer would be.
I've been monitoring this group and replying when I can help, but it
seems that 95% of the new posts fall into two categories. Each has
their own solution:
1. Questions that repeat what somebody else has already asked or
answered. SOLUTION: Use the "Search This Category" field above to look
for previous threads that should give you what you are looking for.
Or, use the "Help" button the top right to go to the FAQ section. Most
of the time, the answer is going to be "patience". There are long gaps
between Google's data updates so any changes you make may take 3-6
weeks or more to be reflected online.
2. Questions specific to your listings or business. SOLUTION: Post
enough details and Maps Guide Jen may be able to help. Frequently,
users don't post enough information for her to figure out which
listing is having issues, or what the issue is. Just be sure not to
post anything sensitive like passwords, private email addresses or
phone numbers.
Obviously this is an important topic because many businesses rely on
their "findability" and accuracy of the listings. Since there are
quite a few active members in this group I think we can do a better
job of helping each other, but I don't think the ideal answer is to
cut and paste the same answers to everybody that posts the same
question. Maybe there is a way to make the above solutions more
prominent within the group or the Local Business Center itself.
Hope this helps.
