Hello,

I've been using this great Javascript for a while, and everything has
been perfect. At some point in the last day or so I noticed that all
icons on my maps, that aren't the default red with a dot, are showing
up inside a white box, as if the pngs aren't transparent anymore. I'm
guessing it's something on Google's side that has changed, since this
javascript hasn't been updated in some time. If there isn't a fix
soon, I'll need to look for another solution, so I figured I'd try
here.

Hope someone can help - Thanks!

I have at one report of someone with this problem, where once
they changed the script to host the marker images on their own
server, the problem went away.

Thanks for the quick reply, can you tell me how I can do that? Also, why
would this have changed suddenly?

Thanks again!

There are instructions in the forum here if you search a bit.

The hosting of those marker graphics has overwhelmed each
for-pay hosting service I've tried, taking a majority of the
donations people have given. So I've moved them to a couple
different free hosting services, but those are not so reliable --
terms of service change, services themselves come and go, any of
which can result it various kinds of failures such as markers not
showing up (but usually remaining clickable if you know where to
click), only marker shadows showing, white backgrounds around
markers, etc.

So, if you require any kind of reliability from your maps,
I highly recommend hosting the marker graphics on your own
server, along with the rest of your web pages. There are no
special server requirements, just regular javascript and graphics
files.
