Hi,

I had a similar issue recently.

I decided that when adding a marker, I would add a custom 'category'
piece to the marker object 'marker.category' which allows me to figure
out which to show or hide.

I have loops which go through all the markers asking "are you of the
selected category" and if it is, then it gets hidden.

This is great. Thanks for the links. I'll have to add the code to the
plugin myself it looks like. I just heard back from the developer and they
don't support this stuff.

The default icon is the default icon. The only way to change it is to
define a different GIcon, you can use your own images with custom
GIcons like:

Or Google does have some images you can reference, but you still need
to define the GIcon

Thanks, yeah I've seen these kinds of tutorials, but I don't really
want to make a custom icon per say. I know when I've used Google Maps
via the interface, I can choose from a number of built in placemark
icons. I'd really just like to switch to one of those.

Sounds like you have a premier license (or need to have one). A
premier/enterprise license comes with support from Google (by people
that get paid to support you). We are volunteers here.

The API doesn't return errors like "not found," it returns status
codes. Are you sure you're not just trying to geocode too many
addresses too fast, and as such are getting "620" as the return code,
which you aren't handling properly and are instead displaying a "not
found" error?

I want to open the infowindow for a link (with onmouseover) outside
the map window.
Check out [link] (only swedish but you will
see what I mean)

When a user does a onmouseover on a link to the left, the infowindow
on each map location shall open.

What I want is to extract information from a map where a consultation
was made, for example, bakeries in Paris, and extract the geographical
locational (lat and lng) of each bakery label.

You might want to look at the code inside

which includes the bare-bones of "saving a polyline". Then you just
have to plug those lat/longs into the existing javascript encoding
utility.

You can pass the dots to your map as a set of tiles, and display them as
a GTileLayerOverlay(). You can either use static tile images or create
the tiles dynamically in your server using a graphic library like gd or
ImageMagik after searching your database for locations that are on that
tile or just off the edge, so that the resulting dot overlaps the tile.

You just add a click listener to the map itself, and send the lat/lon
to the server, which determines which point was clicked.
You don't need any "framework" to do that. It's just to take the lat/
lon from the click into your favorite server side language and query
your database.

that's a nice solution! But I was hopping to have an method (native) to do
this job (directly convert the GPolyline object into encoded string). I'll
implement it and post here, maybe it's gonna be useful for someone else! ;)

If you have a starter map and a search box for the user to fill in
on the same page ... how will your server-side code be able to output
