I wanted to take the opportunity and remind everyone on the forums and in the community that we should all use our local knowledge to map in Map Maker and not rely on external maps unless they are vetted and you're 100% certain there's no copyright issues involved, since this is hard to check many times and the usage rights for many maps are ambiguous we recommend not using any external maps in the mapping process. or in more polished language from our TOS http://www.google.com/mapmaker/mapfiles/s/terms_mapmaker.html

"Google does not permit copyright infringing activities and infringement of intellectual property rights through the Google services, and Google will remove all content and User Submissions if properly notified under the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act or other applicable law that such content or User Submissions infringe a party's intellectual property rights"
