No valid address generated or entered
I got this error message when trying edit Le Hong Phong high school
for the gifted.
I used "advanced" editor and select options in comboxes
but it didn't work.
Did you need to modify the address that was populated automatically. When overriding, the address entered needs to be consistent, that is the city should lie in county/state etc. If the problem persists, can you send us the link of the location. (Using "Link to this page" at the right top corner)

Its an interesting point you raise. I'm not from Vietnam and don't
know the names of the road. However, if in common terminology you
would say "XYZ Raod" then it makes sense to add the word "Road" if not
you can leave it out. Also in some cases certain local words literally
mean road, street etc. In those cases I would not add road, that would
be equivalent to saying "XYZ Road Road."
I noticed in the overview tab you can change language. I would guess
if you are naming a feature in Vietnamese you should change the
language.

@Vinay C: Thank you, I still don't know why this error sent
@Zareerk:
for example:
"đường" means "road" in Vietnamese
so I should name the feature XYZ Road (in English) and additional
"đường XYZ" (in Vietnamese), shouldn't I?

Hey all.
First, i'm a vietnamese. My hometown is Vung Tau, and now i'm working
in Ho Chi Minh City.
I show some of my opinions here:
+ Map from Google is too old, i think it's 2 or 3 years ago.
They've made so many roads as well as instructions till now.
I've drawn some roads, i knew exactly there's a road there (cause i'm
living right there), but moderator refused.
+ We need a consistence in the name of everything.
E.g: "Đường Lê Duẩn" (vietnamese) or "Lê Duẩn Street" (Lê Duẩn:
original vietnamese name) or "Le Duan Street" ect.???
+ We shouldn't accept personal information, such as: "My sweetheart
place", "Grandpa house", etc...
And,
I've got problems:
+ How to contact the one who modify my drawing? Just some comments
sent to my mail box but they said "noreply"!!! And e'rytime i click on
"changes" link in that comment, i can not go to the point.
+ I've got difficulties when drawing roads, recorrect drawing from the
others. I know that it's definitely wrong i can't change.
Is it okay when i draw road but without name?
+ What if i don't remember the name of things i draw?
E.g. I know exactly there's a church or pagoda there, but in fact can
hardly remember the name. So i just type "Church", or "Bank"... Is it
okay?
.....
I love Google!

I don't know how Google can address the issue of old imagery. However,
I faced this as well and what I did is I mentioned in the comments for
the moderator that the imagery was old and that this road really
existed. The moderators almost always approved my roads.
I think somewhere on this thread we spoke about language and I think
we should follow that. Again i noticed certain names already exist in
English and I think its OK to change this.
I completely agree that "My Home" and other stuff like that should
stay off. In my opinion thats just really spammy stuff. Its not wrong
but hey no one wants to know where your sweet heart stays.
I have been getting a lot of these emails as well. I noticed, if you
click on the link in the feature you get taken to the actual feature
and then you can add comments back to the moderator. However you can't
change anything unless the feature is approved.
Again I noticed lots of features on maps.google.com where they had
unnamed churches and schools and even roads so I guess unnamed
features are OK.
There are some really interesting pointers in the Pakistan discussion
forum its definitely worth a read.

Okay, thanks. I've got no penny in this work, just do it for fun and
for Google sake :)
If moderators do'nt want, let them do what they want; because what can
we do but pointing?

First introduce myself: Dutch national living in HCM, cannot speak
Vietnamese (yet) and (more important here) cannot type Vietnamese
characters (despite VietKey).
So where I want to add a Vietnamese names I have to find somewhere to
copy and then paste.
Like for the street name in English I type 'Kha Van Can', for
Vietnamese I paste 'Kha Vạn Cân'.
Looks like we agree to do street names in Vietnamese as well as
English? And only simple ABC in English?
I prefer not to add 'Street', 'Road' or 'Duong' if not necessary, in
that case English and Vietnamese names can be (almost) the same.
But in our neighborhood we have street names like 'đường số
5' ( http://www.savivn.com/P1016450.JPG ), so I choose to use 'Street
No 5' (after a few corrections from the moderator it is capital S,
capital N, not 'Nr' for number but 'No')
Hope this complies with your ideas?
Next problem:
I live in (district) Thu Duc, (ward) Hiep Binh Chanh, Khu Pho 5,
Street No 5, number X.
But unfortunately Google does not know the Khu Pho level (I also don't
not know the English equivalent), so our adress is not unique now
(e.g. KP 6 also has streets by number).
In real life addresses in Vietnam are confusing enough: Only if we
explain that you have to take Street No 25 off Kha Van Can (which is
opposite the Crocodile-restaurant also known as Forimex restaurant) to
reach our neighborhood Kp 5 (also known as the Phu Nhuan Project) then
people can find us :) .
Hopefully in the future I can tell people just check Google Maps. But
first we have to add the Khu Pho level. Any Idea?
NB: I think the satellite images of HCM are about 5 years old, wish
they could have updated before opening this country for MapMaker. Much
confusion indeed, e.g. the featured Water park around the corner from
here has been torn down many years ago :((.
This morning I checked the address hierarchy again:
Town (Tp) is Ho Chi Minh (Google says Saigon but I assume Google is
old, from before 1975 :) )
Locality is used for the District (Quan) (within the town!), in my
case Thu Duc, so far no problem.
But then there is only one more level called 'Sub-Locality' and it is
empty and grayed-out, cannot use!
Here in Ho Chi Minh City we still need 'Ward' and 'Khu Pho' to make a
street-address unique.
In my example Ward is Hiep Binh Chanh and Khu Pho is 5.
A work-around could be Ward as well as Khu Pho in the field Sub-
Locality but then it should be available.
Any solution here?
So, basically you can create your own sub-locality. The reason you are seeing the sub-locality option grayed out is because no one has created that for the region yet. You can go ahead and create the sub-locality and then when you create a road or street, it will auto-populate. Please try that and let me know if that works for you . . . and great explanation I should add, helps in trouble-shooting :)

Clear!
I will try, but please tell me how/where to create these sub-
localities within a locality.
I see the locality displayed on the map but that's all.
Maybe I should figure out where it is 'anchored' in the map so that I
can click to edit?
Or is it functionality of MapMaker I don't know yet?
Thanks

Hit the polygon option, under that search for sub-locality/neighborhood. Once you have chosen that option, you will be able to create a boundary a name it as per the name of the sub-locality. Hope that helps.

Hi,
I've got a problem trying to reconnect a road that has a section
deleted by somebody else at this location
http://www.google.com/mapmaker?hl=en&q=&gw=30&ll=10.812272,106.731185... The section in the curve was deleted, and when I tried to reconnect
the remaining sections together, I got the error saying that it
overlaps some road section. But you can see that there is no road at
the curve at all. Any idea how to fix it. Thanks in advance.
Bach
I think I figured this one out. The reason why are you unable to draw
the road, is because the road already exists. It probably takes some
time for some features to show on the map. In this case, the road
already existed but you were unable to see it. However, when you tried
to create a new road, it didn't allow you to do so.
Check it out now. The road is very much there:)
