I've had some fun this morning editing areas in the south west
(keflavik to reykjavik). One problem is the lack of high res imagery,
so I've been tracing a road painstakingly by zooming out, and then
zooming in again, adjusting and zooming out to check.
I've picked this area as I spent some time there a little while ago,
and will be again this summer - it'll be nice if I can plan my route
using the regular google maps before then!
I've made five or six edits (all new features, or extensions to
existing roads) - and have decided to wait for moderation and approval/
rejection before making more. In some cases I don't know the road
names, and so have left this information as 'Unknown Road' in the hope
that someone will later correct it.
I did edit one lake, but interestingly the real life lake looks
different on different zoom levels (water level of lake rising and
falling) - that'll make the final tweaking of the polygon
problemmatic.
Fingers crossed that I've made my first edits correctly!
Well. The main issue in Iceland seems to be wrong information about
the speed limit. There are some missing roundabouts. And I think very
few, if any, bridges have information about the overpass and
underpass. These need to be added.
Many pedestrian trailes are marked as roads and even connect with a
road. In many cases they need to be deleted and redrawn.
I'm splitting up Sæbraut, Miklabraut, Reykjanesbraut and other roads
in similar size. Feel free to help out, but I think I will be done in
a few days.
