I have enjoyed the tips on this forum to enable using picasa 3.6 on
ubuntu. I find that "backup pictures" is broken with the message
"cannot connect to imapi2 cd engine". Can anyone help with this? Is
there some way to install the imapi2 lib (a dll presumably) to fix the
problem?

I imagine that if I switch from wine to a more robust windows emulator
that would also solve the problem. I do have a license left over so
that would be an option, although down the list from getting it to
work with wine.

Another idea is to run the 3.0 version of picasa on the 3.5 db. I now
routinely backup the directories Goolge/Picasa2 and Google/
Picasa2Album, so that if the db gets hosed I can copy it back.

When I tried using 3.0 with the 3.5 db, picasa only found a small
fraction of the files in each album. I thought maybe some kind of hack
of the pal files might work but I quickly ran out of exuberance.

Thanks in advance!

Not on ubuntu, openSUSE 11.2, but have similar result, "Picasa was unable
to write to the Disc correctly" and "Error Writing CD".

I believe the imapi2.dll is provided by the picasa install package.
