Out of the blue my picasa (3.9) doesn't open the main window anymore.  This is on Linux (ubuntu 12.04 LTS) with wine. Has been running fine for ages. When I launch it, the splash screen comes up, but then nothing else. Picasa.exe is clearly still running, you can even see the icon in the lower left corner popping up when new pictures have been added.  But just no screen.
I've re-initialized the db3 tree, but same.  Probably will re-install the whole thing and give it one more shot.

I really prefer picasa, since I find it so fast in many ways. Because of the mayhem with picasa, I've installed digiKam, and of course the main difference is it being a lot slower and more cumbersome (have to get used to a new workflow). The nice thing is, it's better integrated in the linux world, and a lot easier to update other-than-picasa sites.

Still, I'm eager to get my fast picasa back :-)

Peter, two questions : what version - 64-bit or 32-bit - of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and what version of Picasa 3.9 are you running ? I have (the Swedish-language) version 3.9.0 (Programversion 136.1200, 0)Picasa för Linux installed on 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 LTS ; currently no problems - I can now even access my Google account !...
