Hi,
We use the Google Transliteration service in multiple ways (in GMail,
google.com/transliterate page, using the bookmarklet, or by
downloading the Google IME tool).
In all of those, I have a request which will be very beneficial for
all those who type in Hindi. In almost all the other languages, it
makes sense to type even the numbers (1, 2, 3, ... 1985 etc.) in the
transliterated language. But in Hindi, it is a VERY COMMON culture
that even when you are typing in Hindi, the numbers (digits) are typed
in English numeric letters only by most of the people (like 1985, and
not १९८५ - its Hindi equivalent). Only the people who are writing
REALLY Official Hindi letters (or Old generation people) they use the
Hindi numerals.
So I just have a request from Google, to enable this as an optional
setting - which says "Keep numbers in English only" or something like
that ... I guess it will be very easy to implement and will be helpful
for thousands.
I tried the 'macros' to work around this, so that 1 will be typed only
as 1 always, and so on upto 9, 10 and 11, but even then, a number 1995
will still by typed as १९९५. and then we have to go back and correct
it. Disrupts the flow of typing.
Thanks!
Pi
