I've just set up my portfolio. One the page that lists my shares it
has two columns named

COST BASIS
and
MARKET VALUE

At the bottom of this list of shares is a line named

PORTFOLIO VALUE

In that line are what I assume should be the totals of the different
columns including the COST BASIS and MARKET VALUES.

Problem is when I add up the 'cost' of my share purchases (from the $
amounts listed in that column) and the 'market value' of those shares
(from the $ amounts listed in that column) the totals I get don't
match what Google Finance has listed in the PORTOLIO VALUE line under
each column.

In fact the COST BASIS and the MARKET VALUE as shown by GF is 20.69%
less.

I can't figure out why and would be eternally grateful if someone
could help me out.

Mucho thanks

Yes I've had the same problem. The numbers across the board dont add,
also if you enter a transaction and you enter the wrong number, then
correct it, the cost basis and market value are the same going
forward...they are both the market value.

I've had no answers on the wrong totals and there has been no fix.

Had the same problem. Think it is caused by the "cash balance" if you
delete a stock you have traded in from your portfolio your "cash
balance" isn't properly adjusted. You can "fix" this by depositing the
amount your total is off with.

You should ensure that your default currency is set properly.

I had the same problem (bought stocks in Canadian dollars) and the sum amount was changing, my default currency was USD.
