Coordinates in UTM format on status bar?

to KML Developer Support - Google Earth Browser Plugin
getOptions().setStatusBarVisibility(true) makes the status bar visible
in the plug-in, which displays the current coordinates in deg min
sec.ss
I'd like to display the location in UTM format (as is an option with
the GE app). Is that possible? If so, how is it done?
ps. Love the plug-in!! Way to go, Google!

... and it'd be great to be able to display elevation and eye altitude
in meters....
