Idiots guide to Kml (placemarks)

Hi,

Am very new to web design (3 weeks) and still climbing up the learning
curve.

Am looking to create a kml file so that I can use the Google Earth
plugin for my website. Using this website

So I created my KML file in google earth. I simply downloaded the
google earth and added placemarks and the like and saved it onto my
desktop as a kml file.

Now in your faqs section your advice for creating kml files is much
different. http://code.google.com/apis/kml/faq.html#howtocreate

I had uploaded the kml file onto my server and got the code and pasted
it in. Everything worked fine but there where no placemarks.

Is this the reason that the placemarks have not shown up because I
didn't follow this advice-- : text editor. After creating an object in
Google Earth, paste it into a text editor, and begin editing it.

This is using the KML file that I used in google earth with
placemarks. I don't understand why they are not showing up .
