Google Maps overlay?

Hi,

I like the google earth plugin performance with lots of polylines and
placemarks but I would like to have a "layer" that shows the same data
as google maps (with roads and stuff).

This may be done using image overlays in google earth plugin but I
don't know how to get the high resolution image needed for this...
What I want is to have the GE view and then add the MAP view of google
maps API inside GE plugin.

Please note that using maps api and then adding the GE map view is not
an option (some things I need are still not ported correctly between
the 2 views).


Anyone has done this or knows how can I do this? (or how to get high
resolution image of google maps to include in an image overlay?)
