GE plug-in stopped working in Internet Explorer

I built a site a while ago using the GE Plug-in and API. The plug-in is still working fine in Chrome, Opera, and FF. However in IE (10), the GE plug-in no longer works.

I get the error message: "The Google Earth Plugin is now installed! Restart the browser to see it in action.". However when I refresh or restart the browser, the same message keep coming up.

What is the problem and the fix?

    This is a known issue for IE10. The plugin will most likely load if you run your page in compatibility mode. As mentioned in the known issue thread inserting a compatibility meta tag might help. It works for my sites. If you have some time please star the known issue post.
