Using KMZ files in GE API

Can anyone tell me how to load a KMZ file into a GE API plug-in?

I have a KML stored on a website and it executes with a GE API html
file ok, but a KMZ file does not seem to display but GE does open.

To my knowledge there's no difference between KML and KMZ as far as
the plugin is concerned.

GE opening is one thing - loading a KML/KMZ is another step. Can you
provide a link to the example you have of a KML loading and the same
for a KMZ not loading?
