My apologies I am using Windows Internet Explorer and the error read
Google Updater Cannot Continue(error 0x80070020). Which is strange
because Google was able to download everything else(Chrome, Toolbar,
Maps) only desktop and sidebar didnt load.

I am having the same problem I did a recoveryon my laptop. I not
recieving an error message. I tried to reload Google Gagets(tooldbar,
sidebar, desktop), but its not working. It downloads and will not open
nor do i see the file anywhere on my laptop. I did discover that the
recovery didnt delete all my files as I feared but they are hidden on

Гугл Десктоп довольно интересная утилита, но сделано не очень удобно,
а ведь уже это 5 версия!
Хотелось бы, чтобы при возврате на рабочий стол через Win+D, гаджеты

Try removing
Google Desktop Web Clips Gadget (2009)
for a day or two...and observe the stats...
this might be the source of your problem...

I don't want the gadgets to be always on the top, but when I go to my
Desktop to watch them with Win+D they hide... which is exasperating !

I got an unexpected email from BT advising me that I was about to
exceed my internet download limit for December. After some
investigation I discovered that the culprit seems to be Google Desktop
which I have been using trouble free for two or three years. Internet

i am not computer science guy so i donot know how you can add or make

Password-protected documents viewable in preview mode

I just noticed that password protected documents (eg, Word.doc, or
Excel.xls) are viewable in the "preview" mode of Google Desktop search
display. I have Office 2003. (When I try to open the document, the
password is required...but, of course, the material could already be
compromised at that point.)

I have tried and tried to remove it through the "uninstall" in
programs both in my files and thru windows utiliy clean-up and it
keeps giving me this message:

I believe last I heard this was a limitation. I am on Windows Vista. I
need to login on Windows to access my network drive, but once logged
in this drive no longer needs me to enter the password until I logout
of the drive. Google desktop does not seem to index this drive,
presumably it does not know the password and never has asked me for
