when are open office documents indexed

to Google-Desktop-Plugin-Larrys-OpenOffice
When are Open Office documents indexed? eg .odt files. I have just
re-installed GDS and Larrys OpenOffice and forced a re-index. I found
existing odt files have been indexed. However newer files do not appear
to have been indexed any idea why?
