I cannot delete the files that I just down.

Use system internal tools and find these files are opened by Google
desktop.

Hi,

Close the Google Desktop program (eveything, the sidebar and the icon
next to the system clock).
Then you can remove you file.

I have this problem too -- GD locks zip and jar files. It is probably
indexing them. The locking lasts a long time, though these files are not
large and indexing should go quickly. (And there should be no locking in the
first place).

Yes, it seems that Google Desktop is leaking file handles, but they
won't fix it. :-/
