Subject: Confusion about what is possible with Site Search
Hi

I've looked through all the docs but am still confused about a few
things. What we want is a search over our whole site, and also various
searches over subsections of the site e.g. news.

We want to use Site Search and retreive the results via the XML web
service.

I had assumed that once I paid for and created the account I would
then be able to create as many CSEs as I liked, provided I was under
the account limits. Now I'm not so sure. Can anyone clarify whether
this is possible?

If not, can I do this using labels and annotation to only include
certain URL patterns for each search?

Thanks for any help,

Andy

One thought I had is that I could use the site: query term, as I would
when using Google normally. But in the WebSearch Protocol this isn't
specified as one of the terms that can be used.

Would it be possible using background labels? I can't see how to
specify these in the WebSearch protocol.

I have read every inch of documentation but can't find out for sure
whether what I want is possible and I'm reluctant to commit to the
cost before knowing.

As this forum seems to be the only form of pre-sales support, it would
be great if someone from Google could clarify for me.

Thanks very much

Hi

For reference, I've been able to do everything I need to using the
site: modifier. It seems it can be used with the WebSearch protocol
and so I can restrict searches to certain sections of the site by URL
e.g. site:www.site.com/news
