Hi,

as I just found out, it seems that it is impossible in Google Contacts
to have two contacts which share the same email address (this is true
not only for the primary email address, but for the others as well).

I stumbled across this problem when I tested my sync plugin for
Apple's AddressBook, which I'm just writing. However, this is
something that can realistically happen in real life. For example, I
know one couple which shares one email address; however, I still like
to have a seperate contact entry for each of them.

Now the question is: what to do? Is this restriction ever going to get
lifted, or do we just have to live with it? In the latter case, I
don't really see how I can fully mirror an already existing
addressbook in Google Contacts.

I'd be glad to hear other's comments on this.

Best regards
Rolf

Hi Rolf,

We came across the exact same issue a while ago while developing our
sync tool for Soocial.com

The thread is here: http://groups.google.com/group/google-contacts-

Just in case you were wondering: groups aren't supported yet either.

cheers and good luck with your sync tool!

Hi Simon,

thanks for pointing me to that thread.

Well, I think it's a pitty that we won't get a quick resolution of
this issue.
I'm curious how you at Soocial.com worked around this.

Cheers
Rolf
