Hi All,
My thoughts on desination guides falls under those thoe wish to explore
on their own. Perhaps in this type of guide is only a consideration in
specific regions of the world, but the concept has many viable
applications.

Podcasting is already a huge thing on the internet. Audio guides are
already catching on in the podcast world fir many areas.

In addition GPS technology is also taking a turn towards tourism with
in car navigation.

A few of these GPS manufacturers have already started developing
handheld mini computers that utilize GPS and other basic pocket
computing technologies in a way that opens the door for the creation of
realtime virtual travel guides that contain pictures, audio files and
destination navigation.

The files that are created in loaded into a GPS for this purpose are
called POI's or Point Of Interest. There is already a handful of
companies making some money off of this technology in Europe for
loading in all the speed cameras along the highways so that the user is
alerted to them in time to prevent a speeding ticket.

So with that said I'd be glad to hear what you all think. I have some
website links I can include if there is much interest.

I am a little confused as to what this forum is for. I have a fairly
new website that is my free, non-commercial travel guide for visitors
to the city of Buenos Aires. It can be found at
http://www.buenostours.com, and very soon will be full of info about
BA. But I would like to contribute here somehow too, how can I help?
