Subject: Long delays in "resolving host" and "resolving proxy"
I don't use a proxy. Both Firefox and Internet explorer does not have
these delays, yet *minutes* pass while I look at a blank chrome screen
with the words "resolving proxy" or "resolving host" in grey at the
bottom of the screen. It is especially egregious on a page with a lot
og content, such as my iGoogle  homepage. It takes about 5-7 minutes
for it to load.

There are also times when I have the chrome browser active and my
machine becomes completely unresponsive. For instance, twice now while
typing up this message with chrome trying to load in the background,
(three times now) I've been typing furiously, only for the letters to
appear in a rush after a delay of 15-20 seconds.

In the entire time it took me to open Google Groups in Firefox and
type this message, Chrome has not finished loading in the background.

Machine Details. IBM ThinkPad A31 with Windows XP Pro SP3 and 768Mb of
memory. Pentium M 4 2.0 Ghz processor.

Oh, BTW, now chrome has finished loading.

Yes, I get the "resolving host" message all the time too. I tried the
fix for "resolving proxy" given in the known issues section, but I
don't have my Lan settings on automatic, so it isn't that.

ok so I noticed a significant differnce, and have not seen the long
delay since I went to change proxy settings---->LAN Settings---->and
then uncheck "Automatically detect settings". I think chrome is set by
default to do this so to do this twice at the application layer may
just confuse chrome, and cause that delay.
