Why can't I edit HTML in the resources panel?

I was recently looking for a nice, clean, all-in-one web IDE (for the frontend at least) and realized that the Chrome dev tools would be perfect for this, if it weren't for two issues...

1: I can free-edit and save CSS and JS in the resources panel, but not HTML - why not?
2: I can dock the inspector to the right of the page, but not to the left - why not?

If there's good reasons behind either of these restrictions, I've love to hear them, but otherwise they just seem like arbitrary limitations that kind of ruin the usefulness of the tool.

I was conducting such experiment. See https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78813
for more context. We might still be able to figure it out!

Please file a bug at crbug.com with "DevTools:" prefix.

I gather you were attempting to apply the html edits to the live
document? Maybe an easier starting point would be to flush the edits
to the file, then try the live fix up. If the fix up fails, reload the
frame.
