I just processed my first sale through Google Checkout, and I got an e-mail:
"We're unable to verify the credit card information you provided during the signup process. Although you may still accept and charge new orders at this time, you must provide some additional information before you can receive payouts.
Please complete the following steps within five business days:
1. Photocopy or scan the front and back of the credit or debit card you used to sign up. (For security purposes, please conceal the first 12 digits of your card number, leaving only the last 4 digits visible.) 2. Photocopy the front of your driver license. 3. Write your ID (referenced above) on these documents, then fax them to 'Google Account Verification' at 650 644 0159. If you prefer, you can also attach your scanned documents to an email and respond to this message.
We'll contact you by email again once we've verified your information. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to respond to this message.
Sincerely,
Chad The Google Checkout Team"
I don't have any problems sending the documents requested, but #2 - can I send a Bank Statement/Passport instead?
Another question, why is it that you say that you cannot verify my Credit Card, is it because it's a PayPal card? - I must add that I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY AUTHORIZATIONS/CHARGES FROM GOOGLECHECKOUT ON MY CARD. Online statement, they usually appear, and 3 days after they come as "Reversed" in PayPal.
Notthing about Google checkout on my Real-time statement. Are you really checking the card or just asking this personal information to everybody?
Please explain. Some people might not like to share that much of information with Google.
They use that as a excusess to get you to send them ids and crap such as paypal dose Google dose not even check or verfiy credit cards when you sign up! they did this shit to me and now that want reciptes from my supplyer what bullshit i dont have any suppliers and if google was so worried about this they should request this info up front. The way i see it they dont request this info till after you make the account beacuse alot of people wouldnt use it if they had to send id fax to them so they wait till you open a account and get money in there then hold the funds hostage just as paypal dose till you send them every thing they want.

I am unable to go into specifics about your account here. The best thing to do in this case is to respond back to the email from Chad with your questions. You can also contact our support team. They are very good at responding to emails in a timely manner.

Because there is not much I can do to help solve problems or answer questions specific to an account, what I can give is some guidance on how to avoid these situations in the future. Double check and make sure the personal and financial information you enter is correct the first time you enter it. Google performs routine account reviews from time to time and sometimes our specialists will contact you if they need to verify information from your account. They will let you know what they need and it'd be best to be straightforward with them and to respond back in a timely manner.
Before you send any personal information, always make sure you are in fact corresponding with someone with an @google.com email address. It's safe to assume that any email address with @google.com belongs to Google and the Checkout team will not send email from any other address.
In the case mentioned above, you were asked to send us your credit card information with the first 12 digits of your credit card concealed for security purposes. Please do not send full credit card numbers. Google is committed to protecting your privacy and security, and will never ask you to send us your comprehensive personal information through email.
Navis, if you have specific questions about your account, you should respond to Chad's email with these questions. He will be able to take a look into your account and better assist you.

I agree I have more then enough money in my account and there is nothing showing on my online statement. I wonder if this is going to be a hassle every time I have a purchase.

"They are very good at responding to emails in a timely manner." - Deborah
I'm curious why they never responded to any of my emails when they closed my account without cause and refunded 23 transactions for items I had already shipped. It took me 2 days to even figure out that the account was closed, because even when I tried to login it didn't indicate a problem, and when my customers ordered during that time, it continued taking order information but stopped telling me about them.
You did finally respond when I complained to the Better Business Bureau, but that was only to tell me that the reasons for all of this were "Proprietary and Confidential".
Any clues?

You remind me of the kids that get into poker games way over their head and do nothing but complain. The good thing about the poker games I can turn off their chat. Having owned my own business for over 40 years and the many problems incurred during that time has taught me to relax and work to solve the problem and that complaining gets you ulcers and enemy's. Everyone puts up a firewall so nothing can get done.
Go down the street and let those of us who want to learn about Google do so on our agenda's and not yours. You have made your point and the redunduncy gets you no where.
Good luck to you in the future.
