- The calendar was working fine a couple days ago. Events were saving
properly, all added events showed up in my calendar control panel
view, and all added events showed in the embedded iframe on my website
- Suddenly, a whole host of events aren't showing in the iframe. They
do not show in the html calendar, either. Yet they still show in the
calendar control panel.
- The calendar is public. No doubt about. I've checked all the
settings dozens of times. The default view is public. All the settings
are toggled so that anyone can view, but not edit or add events.
- Adding some test events, occasionally one adds into the iframe view,
but more often than not they don't. Yet they ALWAYS show in my control
panel view.
- I've worked every possible angle on this, and it's just not working.
Now the weekend is almost here, and my website visitors are hosed
concerning a number of significant events. Well, not really, because
I'm just going to have to list them all manually for the moment.
- The best guess I can come up with is that it's a corruption problem,
isolated, and it's probably not going to get better by itself. This is
because I see no other reports of anyone having this problem. And, no,
it's not me. I have been over and over it again, I have done nothing
different than I ever did before. It is just plain broken.
- There have been enough problems with Google calendar in the last
couple months of use, that I'm seriously considering ditching it for
something else. Yes, I realize it's free, but let's face it - if it
gives me recurrent grief, there's just no point in sticking with it.
And it is giving me grief.
It's not just you. I'm having the same problem...the weird thing is
it's only happening on events where I have a specific beginning and
end time. For example, my event is due to run from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m.
The event doesn't show up on my website calendar. If I change the
event to all day, or span it over two days, it displays on my website
calendar (but with parentheses around the starting time.)
I tried all the same things you did--even tried creating an event as a
duplicate of an event that's already displaying correctly.
Refreshing, different browsers, none of it seems to matter.
Someone needs to address this...this is a critical issue. If you know
of any other good online web calendars, let me know. I may be joining
you.

I concur, Riqqster. I tried what you describe here, and voila, there
it was. But that's a problem, because it's NOT an all day event.
Therefore, Google calendar is broken. Period.
I'll be looking for alternatives tonight. Meanwhile, let's watch, and
see if anyone with power to correct this problem chimes in on this
thread.
This is a possible option. I've been experimenting with the calendar
provided by this site this evening. It's pretty friendly (although a
bit obtuse in the interface until you get used to it) - I especially
like a whole array of shortcuts they have, such as this example
expression [Joe's House|2525 Catcrap Ave, Lemmingham, WA], when
entered into the notes box (analogous to the Google "description"
field), automatically creates a link to the pertinent Google map.
There are a bunch of other really useful shortcuts like this, as
well.
Also, it is embeddable on any webpage via an i-frame, there are ready
made widgets for certain platforms, and it comes with a ready-made rss
feed. It can also be shared, or made private, or only certain events
may be shared and others may be made private (with simple shortcuts
like in the above example), etc.
Best of all, it's free, and has been around for a while. Longer than
Google calendar, for sure. Definitely not in beta. I'm sure it has it
quirks like any web-app, but it might be worth a try if you're pulling
your hair out.
Here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to basically create a mirror of
the Google calendar on 30boxes and use it as a backup for when Google
goes down (this is supposing my Google calendar actually starts
working right, again, period). Whichever one has the least bugs after
six months is the winner, and the other one gets sh*t-canned, and I
write a comparison/contrast review and post it somewhere prominent (I
have several options in that regard, as far as "prominent" goes).
9.58 am PDT. Everything is as it was yesterday. Events added which
have a start and end-date do not show in the iFrame, or the private
html calendar. Change their status to all day, and they do show.

In fact my problem occurs only if the beginning time of the event is
the same as the end time. I used to do like that to remind me a task.
Now, I manage to let a short delay : 1 minute and the event is shown
again on my embedded calendar !
May 12: I can't believe they haven't fixed this yet. The workaround I
picked was just setting the events to all day, and just listing the
time at the head of the description section. But this one minute thing
is a good idea.

I had almost every event in my calendar with the same start and end
time. None were appearing in my embedded calendar. I have just been
through EVERY event (100s) and changed them to be one minute long. Now
they are all showing. Thanks for the workaround Tivoli!
